I considered this photograph to be my best image because it contains multiple elements that bring the photo to life. Line and repetition is a common element in the wooden tiles of the building, the reflection of the branches and the repetition of the window panes. I shot this image from the ground looking up at the window. Common shapes in the image are squares and rectangles. I used the hanging frame as something that leads the viewers eyes up the side of the building, and into the window. While shooting this photo, I kept the white balance on cloudy and the ISO is around 100. The aperture was at f/5 and the shutter speed was at 1/160. I chose to specifically shoot old, abandoned buildings to photograph. I did this to represent an idea of ageless when the viewer looks at the window. Unlike the decaying wood from the building, the window remains unbroken and clean. With the branches and moving clouds in the windows reflection, and the fading paint on the wood, it makes the window seem like it is the only part of the building that contains life. It leaves the viewer to imagine what could be seen in the building in the past, and the perspective of someone who once looked through the window from inside of the building.
strongest photos
I chose these images as my strongest photos because of the color and the process of editing. I spent a majority of my time editing these photos to bring out the different colors. Editing with color is difficult for me, but I'm really proud of how these images turned out. I like the repetition in the two images, but also the contrast in the shadows and the colors.
growth
I chose this photo as my worst photo to show my growth over the year. This photo shows an unbalance of color, and how the photo itself looks overly edited. The background is busy and it takes the viewer a second to realize what's going on in the photo. If I were retaking this image, I would have worked with aperture to focus on the main leaves. Over the year, I have worked on managing the camera and working with the settings. I have also worked on my editing with color and contrast so that my photos don't look overly edited.
strengths & weaknesses
My strengths as a photographer are finding meaning and metaphors in my photos. My weaknesses are controlling the camera while photographing.
A skill that I would like to work on is using the camera and knowing how to use the settings in different situations, such as lighting, weather, aperture, iso etc.

Moonlight: The Pond Edward Steichen 1904
The photographer is Edward Steichen. He was a photographer, artist, and museum curator. He frequently appeared in Alfred Stieglitz magazines. The photo was taken in Milwaukee, Wisconsin in 1904. The photographers purpose for taking this imagine is that he wanted to show an example of Pictorialism. The photo represents a tranquil atmosphere of the woods with a pale moonlight reflecting over the water. Repetition can be seen in the pattern of lines in the woods and in the reflection of the pond caused by the trees. I see this image as calming, but also with an eerie background. The people that have viewed the image all have a similar understanding of the image. For example, each person can describe the image as eerie but also calming at the same time. The viewers seem to be affected by the photograph in the same way
